Bradford-based hygiene specialist Christeyns has been awarded the Sustainability Award at the recent Bradford Business Awards which celebrate the people and businesses leading the way in the Bradford area.
The Sustainability Award specifically recognises businesses that have made strides in improving their environmental standing and can show commitment towards a more sustainable future.
Christeyns UK operations director, Justin Kerslake, said: “We were absolutely delighted to win this award, and to be recognised by the Bradford community. We hope that our continued commitment to sustainability will help highlight what can be achieved both in the local environment and in our industry sector.”
The company’s principal focus is the manufacture and supply of detergents and equipment for the commercial laundry sector across the UK. Christeyns not only have sustainable initiatives in place at their own sites but also provide customers with systems and chemicals that help them meet their own environmental goals.
In the past year the firm has introduced two innovative systems to help customers improve their environmental performance. The first UK Laundry HydRO, a new technology to help professional laundries reduce freshwater consumption was installed at Oxwash, Swindon and there has also been a roll out of the chemical system EPIC (Enzymatic Process Innovation by Christeyns). EPIC uses Enzyme technology to reduce laundry effluent loadings, cutting down on the use of surfactants and reducing wastewater by 20-30 per cent. EPIC is now in in place at over 10 major UK laundry processing sites.
